Genuine – One of the most important things when defining your brand. Keep it real in terms of your branding. Your brand must be true and honest to who you are, true to who you want to become. It has to be based on your tradition and what you deliver. It has to be the way people feel about your product when they’re involved with it.
Meaningful – Your brand can’t be only about you. It has to connect with those around you, and with the people that you want to serve. It has to connect with peoples basic human needs.
Different – In terms of branding, you have to have a one-of-its-kind space to call your own; something that none of your competitors have. It has to be distinctive and genuine, but in a very meaningful way.
Your brand has to be a tight brand. That means everything works together and everything fits. It has to connect with people. If your brand is tight, it will make your decisions about your company and your product much easier. It would be so much easier to market and your brand could drive your business decisions and your actions
To get to the point of having a tight brand, you’ll need to start by defining your brand in terms of the three keywords; genuine, meaningful, and different. You define your “genuine” by looking deep within yourself to uncover your true motivations and higher purpose. To get the answers, you should ask yourself questions like, “why am I doing what I’m doing everyday, day-in and day-out”. “What do I want to achieve for myself, my family, others, and the world?” When you can answer those questions, you have arrived at your “genuine”.
You define your “meaningful” by talking with customers and prospects and asking them why they like working with you, and what keeps them coming back besides just the products and services you offer? To find out real motivation dig deep, because the reasons are never the reasons on the surface.
To define your “different”, you’ll have to look at all your competitors to see what they’re doing and saying, how they’re saying it, how they look, and how they promote themselves. You’ve got to understand why people buy your competitors products and services.
Once you put these top personal branding tips into action, the more genuine your brand will be. The more you feel your brand, the more it will be felt. When you define at this level, no one else will even come close.
