Selling items on your website is a great way to sell things at high prices, and you don’t have to worry about the fees that eBay and Amazon demand.

But simply having a website won’t make you money. You have to actually go out there and start marketing your site. The best way to do this is by first of all NOT building the site first. The best way is to actually find the market first, and then build a site and sell a product around this small market.

This is known as niche marketing. Niche marketing is the act of finding a small market who isn’t being sold to (or has very little competition), and then supplying them with the solution that they need to accomplish their goal or solve their problem. If you’re currently selling to a group of people that aren’t buying from you – and you’ve been in this market for a long time now… it’s time to reconsider operating in this niche. The bottom line is that if you want to survive online, you need targeted people to sell to. This is just the way things are.

Now I’m going to be honest with you. The easy way to go about things is to simply go into a broad market and start selling to the people there. You will find that there are a lot of affiliate products in these large markets, and almost everyone and their grandma are promoting these products. So you will have huge competition.

But if you can dissect this large market, and focus your selling efforts on a group of people who are eager for help, but don’t know how to get it… you can make a niche sum of money marketing to these people.

You will find that your advertising costs will be low, your conversion rates will be high, you’ll become a celebrity in your niche, people will want to do joint ventures with you, and you’ll be able to market online successfully. Doesn’t this sound appealing?

Well hopefully it does to you, because it is. How would you like to stop struggling online and waiting hopelessly for someone to come and start ordering from you on a consistent basis? Well, this is something that can become a reality for you. But only if you go into a niche – because this is where the bulk of your success will come from.

I’m big on niche marketing because it’s a fundamental element of making money in ANY business. The more direct marketing ideas you apply to your online business, the more success you will have. And selling to the most ideal prospects is the way to go online. This is only done via niche marketing.

If you’re online business isn’t seeing a lot of sales and profits right now, then it’s time to make a change. Try something new and get out of a market that isn’t producing for you right now. The best thing that you can do is to enter into a new small niche, and begin your marketing efforts again.
